Bands

Turnip The Beet, with Christie Burns

Turnip the Beet is a dance band duo from Nashville, Tennessee. Rooted in the traditions of Southern Appalachia and local contra dances, Kelsey Wells and Jeremy Lekich combine fiddle, guitar, percussion, and the occasional banjo in an innovative and jubilant musical harvest. Expect to hear an organic mix of eclectic tunes from the American South, Ireland, Cape Breton, Quebec, and Scandinavia, as well as a half-bushel of grooving, homegrown originals. Joining Kelsey and Jeremy is Christie Burns, our wonderfully talented hometown musician, playing piano and hammered dulcimer.

You might remember we had this trio play for us last year at Chattaboogie, and they did such a nice job we had to have them back one more time! Christie takes Turnip The Beet to a whole new level. She doesn't play with Turnip The Beet nearly enough, but we are very happy to have them all together again. Don't miss this entrancing musical and dancing experience.
