Bands
Notorius
Notorious is a wildly popular, genre-defying dance band, renowned on the international contra and festival circuit. Blending Appalachian old-time tunes with Eastern European melodies, New England fiddling, and blues influences, the band creates an irresistible sound powered by Eden MacAdam-Somer’s vibrant fiddling and vocals, Larry Unger’s masterful guitar work, Sam Bartlett’s rhythmic mandolin, and Mark Hellenberg’s dynamic percussion. In over two decades of playing together, they've written hundreds of tunes, traveled thousands of miles, visited way too many airports, and raised the roof in dance halls and concert venues from Alaska to Afghanistan. Whether you're an avid dancer or just love great live music, Notorious will get you on your feet! https://www.fiddlegarden.com/notoriousfolk

Playing with Fyre
Playing with Fyre is a contra dance band from the Blue Ridge Mountain areas of North Carolina and Virginia playing mostly in the southern states of NC, SC, VA, TN and GA but increasing their range to play across the United States and bring their unique sound to homes and dance halls everywhere.
The core band members are Rob Zisette, fiddle and vocals, of Toss the Possum, and George Paul, piano, formally of the Avant Gardeners. George and Rob met in 2014 on stage to play for the Floyd, VA local contra dance. They had never met before but within two minutes of playing for the sound check, they knew it was going to be a special night and the chemistry was palpable. They bonded magically through the music and gave the dancers an incredible night to
remember. They have since added Steve Kemble, percussion, to the band mix which really put the music over the top. Rob’s fiery fiddle playing, George’s funky, bluesy piano and Steve’s extraordinary percussion create an ambience of dance seldom experienced.

Callers
Will Mentor
Will Mentor is a contra and square dance caller from northern Vermont known for his clear teaching, upbeat wit, and relaxed stage presence. He loves to choreograph evenings with a variety of dances and tempos that at times surprise and always delight. All the while, keeping intact his guiding principle as a caller: "It's about the dancers!"

Cathy Hollister
Cathy has been leading English Country Dances for several years. She is a regular caller in her home community in Nashville, TN and has been a guest caller for many regional dances such as Cincinnati, St. Louis, Louisville. Because she enjoys both contra dancing and English Country Dancing (ECD), she especially enjoys calling ECD sessions for contra dancers.
